“I have been working on this street for 52 years, repairing brakes. I picked up the trade in 1967 – everybody knows me in this neighbourhood. I will continue to work for as long as I can but they will be demolishing the buildings in this area soon, to make way for new developments. I’m not sure when it will happen, but it will. I don’t have any apprentices. Nobody wants to do this kind of work anymore. When I am gone that will be it.”
